3 Doors Down brought their acoustic tour titled Songs From The Basement to the Sound Board at Detroit’s Motor City Casino.  This was not your typical show and was very intimate. The group referred to it as “band practice”.   The stage included the band members on stools, couches filled with VIP fans, lamps, and a hodgepodge of knick knacks you’d find in a basement / mancave.

Before and after most songs, the band would tell the story behind the song in a storytellers type setting. Following a band that’s been around for nearly 20 years, most fans definitely enjoyed the stories. The main set included a cover of Garth Brooks The dance, along with all of the groups hits including, Loser, Be Like That, and ending with their biggest hit and the song that put them on the map, Kryptonite.

The encore began with a cover of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters with frontman Brad Arnold describing his first Metallica show as, “one of those shows you just don’t forget”. The set ended with the hits, Here Without You and When I’m Gone.

This acoustic tour has few dates left on the east coast.  If you can do yourself a favor and get out to one of these unique shows.  The band is working on a new record for 2014.
