Our international team of photographers pick their Top 10 images from their last twelve months of show coverage for National Rock Review.
This year alone Team NRR has covered a multitude of both emerging talents along with some of the biggest acts on the Rock, Blues, Metal and Country touring circuits.
With an extensive team of concert photographers spanning two continents, National Rock Review has covered some of the biggest tours of 2017 including the likes of the U2, Foo Fighters, KISS, Queen with Adam Lambert, Metallica, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kings of Leon, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Liam Gallagher, The Libertines and Paul McCartney to name but a few.
Our team were also on hand to bring all of the action from some of this year’s biggest festivals including the likes of Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, Ramblin’ Man Fair, Chicago Open Air, Stagecoach Festival, Chicago Blues Festival, Riot Fest, Louder Than Life, Welcome To Rockville, Live From Times Square and the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival.
Here we present some of our photographer’s favourite images from their last twelve months of NRR assignments.
Abigail Buckler – Las Vegas, NV:
Bringing our readers all of the action from the Entertainment Capital of the World this year Abigail has captured a whole raft of hard rocking bands including the likes of the Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Hell Yeah, Collective Soul, Motionless In White and We Came As Romans.
Michael Deinlein – Louisville, KY:
Kentucky based concert photographer Michael Deinlein’s favourite images this year include the likes of Foo Fighters, Ghost, Paul McCartney, Charles Bradley, Lacuna Coil and country legend Loretta Lynn.
Jay Dunbar – Orlando, FL:
Jay’s top images feature the likes of rockabilly icon Brian Setzer, bluesman Robert Randolph and punk outfit Social Distortion to name but a few.
Adam Kennedy – Newcastle upon Tyne, UK:
Based in the North East of England Adam has been the manager of NRR’s UK operation for almost four years. Throughout 2017 he has photographed in the region of 120 shows with highlights including the likes of Queen with Adam Lambert, KISS, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, Liam Gallagher, Kings of Leon and Vintage Trouble to name but a few. The latter of which he has photographed over 100 times during the last 6 years as one of the group’s tour photographers.
Chuck Marshall – Detroit, MI:
Chuck continues to firmly have his finger on the pulse of the Michigan metal scene as well as being somewhat of a blues connoisseur. Some of Chuck’s favourite images this year come from acts like Gov’t Mule, Marcus King, A Perfect Circle and Imminent Sonic Destruction.
Sami Lipp-Mosier – Detroit, MI:
Bringing some of the best live photography from the photo pits of ‘Motor City’; Sami’s choice picks this year include the likes of Steel Panther, Zakk Sabbath and Here Come The Mummies.
Gary Pahlow – Detroit, MI:
As part of our vast team of Detroit based photographers this year, Gary has covered some of the biggest contemporary rock/metal acts on the scene this year including the likes of PVRIS, Piece The Veil, Pop Evil and Nothing More.
Robbie Rooney – Glasgow, Scotland:
As part of NRR’s prominent UK team, Robbie brings the best of our coverage north of the border. Based in Glasgow this year Robbie has chosen the likes of Vintage Trouble, the Kyle Gass Band, the Quireboys, Rival Sons and blues guitarist Laurence Jones in his favourites.
Matt Stasi – Los Angeles, CA:
Bringing all of the action from the Sunset Strip this year Matt has photographed a diverse array of artists which spans Country acts like Colter Wall and Travis Tritt through to metal titans like Stone Sour, Korn and the Prophets of Rage.
Kirstine Walton – Chicago, IL:
Based in the Windy City Kirstine heads up our US operation. This year Kirstine has photographed some of the biggest names in rock including Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day to name but a few.
