Symbol Six performs with God Bless America and Stumblebum at the Ash Street Saloon in Portland, while on their west coast tour.

Kicking the evening off was Portland’s own Stumblebum, an impressive, high energy Punk band meets rock-a-billy act embodying all that is rock-n-roll. The three-piece group is delivering the goods musically and doing rather well at making new fans with high energy shows and great music. The band consists of Jason Rocksmore on guitar, Adam Martin on bass, and Mikey “Bear Claw” Speers on drums. It is always a great time catching these guys on stage, so be sure to check them out on Saturday, October 11 at the Foggy Notion in Portland, OR.

Having covered God Bless America several times in the past, it is not hard to describe how GBA always impresses fans from the stage. GBA took the stage with new material and different wardrobes, keeping their sets lively, original, and rhythmically powerful. They performed their collection of gritty hits lyrically full of religiously ludicrous, capitalist, and fundamentalist verses with the intent to drive the politically correct out of their comfort zone. GBA has Eddie Kancer belting out the lyrics, Fluffy Kettering on bass, Captain Mittens on drums, and The Reverend Pat Riot on guitar. The band ripped it up in an unpredictable stage presence, delivering punk rock greatness.

Headlining the evening is Symbol Six, an American hardcore rock-n-roll band from Santa Monica, CA. They are described by their peers to be, “the hardest working band in Southern California.” Therefore, you should expect nothing less from Symbol Six as they kick ass, take names, and energize the world just like they did on the stage of the Ash Street Saloon. Symbol Six consists of Eric Leach on vocals/guitar, Tony Fate on guitar, Evan Shanks on bass, and Phil George on drums. Symbol Six had formed in 1980 and has the bragging rights of playing some of the most notorious West Coast punk rock venues such as the Cuckoo’s Nest (Costa Mesa, CA), Godzilla’s (Sun Valley, CA), and Bards Apollo (South Central, Los Angeles)

While a great number of us were just picking out our first instruments, Symbol Six had already established themselves as an up-and-coming force to be reckoned with, all at the age of 15. They have played with legendary acts such as, Social Distortion, Bad Religion, SIN 34, T.S.O.L., 45 Grave, Youth Brigade, Descendants, RF7 and Agent Orange during the burgeoning California punk movement.

After a rich history and a roller-coaster ride with success and a life on the road, all original members decided to get back together and give it another go in 2010. A lot of buzz had been generated for the band making 2012 a very successful year for the newly reunited group. They played with acts such as Fear, Jello Biafra, Lower Class Brats, The Addicts, and many others. Symbol Six went back into the studio to record their third album, Dirtyland, in late summer of 2012. The band was signed to Jailhouse Records on March 1, 2013 and was on the road with their album, which was released in the spring 2014.
