A premature winter blast didn’t stop legendary NWOBHM group Raven, or their fans, from a night of good, old fashioned heavy metal in the Motor City.

Legendary New Wave of British Heavy Metal band, Raven, stopped by Detroit and dished up some old-school metal to an enthusiastic crowd at the Token Lounge on November 18. After forming in 1974, Raven has released twelve studio albums over the course of their full, successful career. The band, responsible for such memorable tunes as, “Lambs to the Slaughter,” and, “On and On,” brought to the stage the energy of rockers half their age, and the crowd responded with the appropriate respect and enthusiasm that these rockers deserved. Providing support for Raven, was California newcomers, Night Demon, who faithfully and skillfully carry on the NWOBHM torch with a modern flair.

Our photographer, Josh Kahl, was on hand to capture the event.
