Pink Floyd tribute band, Brit Floyd, brought the Space and Time Continuum World Tour to the historic Florida Theater in downtown Jacksonville.

20-June-2016: Fans of Pink Floyd old and new needed only to close their eyes to take themselves back in time. Brit Floyd, under the musical direction of Damian Darlington, brings the experience of a Pink Floyd concert to life complete with the visuals and lasers that make possible the closest thing to the genuine experience.

After last year’s success with the Space and Time tour, 2016 brings forth the Space and Time Continuum World Tour with the theme that gives fans 50 years of Pink Floyd. With so many songs available from the Pink Floyd discography, the show not only had the best of last year’s but new material as well.

The show was complete with lasers and backdrops showcasing some of music’s most iconic imagery from an age when album art was as important as the vinyl inside. The first half of the show included “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” “Pigs,” and “Just Another Brick in the Wall.”

During the 20-minute intermission, the crowd consisting of all ages could be heard in full agreement that Brit Floyd was simply amazing. For the older generations who spoke of seeing Pink Floyd live decades earlier, the Brit Floyd show inside the beautiful and historic Florida Theater was sure to leave them with a lasting memory.

The second half and subsequent encore gave way to some of the more ethereal music featuring keyboardist Thomas Ashbrook. “Echoes,” “Empty Spaces,” “Young Lust,” and “Money” were just some of the tracks played that make up the sound that is uniquely Pink Floyd. An encore that included “Wish You Were Here” could only begin to be a statement to anyone who missed what is certainly one of the world’s best tribute bands.

Brit Floyd is Damian Darlington (musical director, guitar, vocals), Rob Stringer (keyboards, vocals), Ian Cattell (bass guitar, vocals), Edo Scordo (guitar, vocals), Arran Ahmun (drums), and Thomas Ashbrook (keyboards, vocals). Backing vocalists include Ola Bienkowska, Angela Cervantes, Roberta Freeman, Emily Jollands, and Jacquie Williams.

Photography has always been part of my life. From the days of film back in the early 80s to present day digital. The view has always been the same...to capture an emotion, a moment, a feeling, or provoke a thought. Since the early days I’ve had the opportunity to capture sports, weddings, architectural details, wildlife, automobiles, landscapes, concerts, and portraits. Be it an album cover, advertisement, newspaper, magazine, gallery, or social media, my greatest joy comes from knowing someone loves my work enough to place it in their own home. That is true satisfaction...knowing that I have touched something deep inside another person’s soul. I am a native Floridian currently residing in St. Augustine, Florida. A proud graduate of Flagler College and a lover of music and small details that go unnoticed by most, I continue to explore the reaches of my own mind through writing, photography, and constant introspection.
