Pantera have released an official statement explaining Vinnie Paul’s cause of death.

Pantera and Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul passed away on June 22 earlier this year at the age of 54. Now, Pantera have released a statement explaining his cause of death.

“Vincent Paul Abbott died from natural causes, specifically, dilated cardiomyopathy. Severe coronary artery disease was identified as a significant condition to the cause of death according to the official report submitted by the Clark County Coroner’s office,” Pantera tweeted.

A secondary post states, “We ask that you please continue to respect the privacy of the family and friends of Vinnie Paul. No further statement will be issued.”

Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg announced Monday that Paul, whose full name was Vincent Paul Abbott, died June 22 at home in Las Vegas from cardiomyopathy, or an enlarged heart. Coronary artery disease was identified as a significant condition in his death.

Before his death, Vinnie Paul tracked drums for the newest Hellyeah record, the band has confirmed that they plan to release the new material. An update to Hellyeah’s Wikipedia page claimed Daniel Davison (Norma Jean, Underoath, Every Time I Die) would fill Paul’s drum slot, but the group quickly dismissed the update as fake.

The outpouring of grief from members of the rock and metal community upon Vinnie Paul’s death continues as musicians share memories and thank the legendary drummer  for his  kindness and generosity.
