King Diamond plays the main stage at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California.

Now in its eighth year, the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival is still going strong, and this year’s installment features Slayer, King Diamond, Hellyeah, and The Devil Wears Prada on the main stage, while White Chapel, Shattered Sun, Kissing Candice, Jungle Rot, Sister Sin, Thy Art Is Murder, and Sworn In rock the Victory Records stage.

Playing directly into the blazing sun, The Devil Wears Prada kicked off the main stage festivities with a brief but solid set of metalcore that had the fans quickly finding their seats inside the amphitheatre.

Legendary drummer Vinnie Paul and his band Hellyeah rocked the main stage next, and had the metalheads out of their seats and now on their feet, while pumping their fists and showing no signs of slowing down despite a day in the hot sun.

The mighty King Diamond has brought his full stage show with him on this tour, and sounded just as amazing as always while delivering a set that includes Mercyful Fate classics “Evil” and “Come To The Sabbath.”

Opening their set with a new song entitled “Repentless,” headliner Slayer hit the stage with plenty of pyro and showed everyone in the venue just why they continue to be a force in metal, even after all these years. Their setlist was a nice mix of both newer and classic Slayer, and highlights included “Mandatory Suicide,” “Chemical Warfare,” “Hate Worldwide,” and of course “Angel Of Death.”

National Rock Review will be on hand to document every show on the tour, so make sure you come back and check out our coverage.
