The Nashville Pussy and Valient Thorr co-headlining tour rolled through NYC for a night of gritty in your face rock n’ roll with no apologies.
Kicking off the night were up and coming musicians Against The Grain from Detroit, Michigan. This four piece band embodies the Motor City spirit in their music. No thrills no frills, just pure rock n’ roll attitude.
Though they are relatively unknown in New York, the band has a large following in the Midwest, and has received tons of praise from overseas fans. These guys formed in 2009 and have three albums, and an EP in their catalog.
Against The Grain delivered a strong 45-minute set that was met with audience approval from beginning to end. It was wonderful to see them embraced by the NYC crowd. After their set, many fans came up to them to shake hands and purchase their merchandise. They were hanging out with all those who approached them, even after it came time to pack up.
Up next was Valient Thorr. The fun feel band from out of space has always been a show stopper. Seeing them live is like pro wrestling mixed with a circus gone crazy. They command attention by any means necessary everywhere they go. With songs like, “Master Collider,” and, “Torn Apart,” it is safe to say having this band as your opener you either will step up your game or get blown off stage. We got to see their rousing performance with songs like, “Double Crossed,” and, “Masks of Sanity.”
After their performance, Valiant Thorr tagged Nashville Pussy into the musical ring. Nashville Pussy opened with the anthem, “Keep On Fucking.” They hammered the audience with three songs in a row from the 2000 album High as Hell. After a few moments, they went into, “Rub It to Death,” from their latest album, Up the Dosage. The audience was treated to five songs from this must-have CD.
As the night progressed, they played five songs from another album, High as Hell. Pushing forward through their set list, music from their classic album, Let Them Eat Pussy, managed to overshadow the newer material. Pure energy, pure fun and a true representation of what rock and roll is all about. Get your dose of pussy before they take a break from touring.
