Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience rolled into Louisville’s Palace Theater creating an evening of Led Zeppelin magic.

On a day where nothing seemed to go right, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience‘s (JBLZE) bus broke down coming to the venue delaying sound check, the doors opening, and the start of the show along with a few equipment glitches mixed in for good measure, all of which went by the wayside as Jason Bonham and the guys walked onto the Louisville Palace stage.

Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience was simply magical this evening. While it is true that the group covered 19 Led Zeppelin songs over the course of the evening (playing for more than two-and-a-half hours), JBLZE was definitely not simply covering these songs. Lead singer James Dylan’s vocals were clearly “Robert Plant like” but his added flare and personalization came out in the performance brilliantly. The same can be said for guitarist Tony Catina; while performing the legendary notes to “Stairway to Heaven” or “When the Levee Breaks” to a room full of lifetime Led Zeppelin fans is a daunting task Tony masterfully succeeded tonight.

Jason addressed the enthusiastic crowd with stories from his youth, a few of his father’s antics, and various Led Zeppelin remembrances along with a genuine and sincere appreciation from Jason and the band for all in attendance. These stories added depth and provided some fantastic insight into Led Zeppelin as he remembers.

There were a number of memorable moments during the show. JBLZE closed out the opening ten-song set with “Moby Dick.” This iconic John Bonham drum solo was performed to perfection by Jason tonite. Adding to the overall experience was the video screen footage of John playing note by note with Jason creating a timeless father/son drum duet that left the room buzzing.

The second set opened with a home video clip of Jason, as a young boy, playing drums with John and him doing a little dance which brought smiles to everyone’s face as the band started off with “The Ocean” also creating a fun and memorable show moment.

JBLZE closed out their second set with a blazing performance of Kashmir that had everyone in the crowd playing air guitar/drums and singing along with the group, relishing in the superb performance.

Jason addressed the crowd one last time for the evening. “I don’t take this show or music lightly; this is a representation of my family and Led Zeppelin. As long as you love it and keep supporting us we will keep doing this,” he said before dedicating the next song to his friends. Tony launched into the familiar acoustic notes of “Stairway to Heaven” and the whole venue erupted creating a magical moment of the evening.

Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience closed out the evening with a raucous rendition of “Whole Lotta Love” ending a fantastic evening of music. Go see this tour comes through a city of venue near you; you won’t be disappointed.
