Our alien overlords GWAR return to Detroit for more blood-soaked excitement with Sacred Reich, Toxic Holocaust, and Against The Grain.

The lords and masters of Earth, GWAR are back in Detroit. Their followers have come dressed in white to witness the bloody sacrifices at the Majestic Theatre. These offerings to appease our galactic rulers are part of GWAR’s “Use Your Collusion” tour. A nod to the collusion madness surrounding the current administration of the United States. Regardless of the intent, the crowd is ready to bath in blood and other vital fluids in the name of rock and roll.

Setting off the show with a speed rock kick in the ass is Against The Grain. This rough and ready Detroit based band has pulled in a rabid crew of hometown fans to raise hell. Their aggressive take no prisoners brand of rock calls to mind greats such as Motorhead and Thin Lizzy.  The band strikes with fury on “Sacrifice” off their latest offering ‘Cheated Death’. Joining the rest of the band (Chris Nowak, Nick Beliomo, and Rob Nowak) for this hometown stop on the tour is guitarist/vocalist Kyle Davis. Kyle has been out due to the birth of his child and guitarist Brent Purgason has been covering for him. Both Kyle and Brent rock out as Against The Grain pays homage to the mighty Motorhead with “Stay Clean”. What a great set of fist-pumping music from Detroit’s Against The Grain.

Whipping the mosh pit into full gear is the crossover thrash of Toxic Holocaust. While Toxic Holocaust have a new album coming out on October 4th called ‘Primal Future: 2019’, their set features a hit list of classics such as “666”, “Nuke The Cross”, and “Bitch”. Each song delivers a pummeling barrage of drums and bass with guitar raging like a chainsaw. Joel Grind incites the moshers into a frenzy as the band punches up “War Is Hell”. What better way to spend an evening in Detroit than in the pit with Toxic Holocaust.

Supporting their first new music in 23 years is the legendary Sacred Reich. The new album entitled ‘Awakening’ is a masterpiece of thrash metal and the fans are eager to hear the new music live. The crowd greets Sacred Reich with a roar of approval as the chugging guitars of Wiley Arnett and Joey Radziwill transform into machine gun riffs on “Manifest Destiny”.

Sacred Reich’s Phil Rind tells the crowd that tonight’s show in Detroit is in dedication to the UAW workers currently on strike with General Motors. Many of us are working-class people who appreciate the band’s support and solidarity. On cue, drummer Dave McClain’s tribal beats introduce the new song called “Salvation”. Sacred Reich reaches way back to the ‘Ignorance’ album with “Death Squad” before grinding some serious waves to close their set with “Surf Nicaragua”. While the world may be going to hell in a handbasket, at least we have the pleasure of thrashing it up with Sacred Reich.

Little did we know that we were all attending a session of the super-secret world court to impeach the scumdogs of the universe, GWAR. A creepy and extremely tall bailiff announces that court is in session and asks us all to rise as the Supreme Court Justice is shown on a TV screen. The bailiff calls the defendants GWAR to the stage. The stage lights go up with Jizmak’s rumbling drums accompanied by the roaring guitars of Pustulus and Balsac. The bailiff is then quickly beheaded by Blothar’s sword to the throbbing pulse of Beefcake’s bass. It is just another night of debauchery with GWAR as they jam the sing-along favorite “Fuck This Place”.

The insanity continues as a cop is disembowelled and reamed out before GWAR takes a big toke on the pipe with “Krak Down”. Kaitlyn Gender is welcomed on stage for a c-section before the band gets jiggy with “Hail, Genocide!”. Blothar cannot contain his excitement as he sprays blood from his dual members on “Have You Seen Me?”.

The notorious Trump takes the stage as the O’Jays “For The Love Of Money” plays over the house speakers. GWAR breaks into their theme song as they proceed to tear open Trump for yet another bloodbath. GWAR cap off a night of vicious fun with the very appropriate cover of “If You Want Blood (You Got It)” by AC/DC. This gore-soaked evening has left the fans dripping with ooze and smiling from ear to ear thanks to our extraterrestrial masters, the almighty GWAR!
