The band made a stop in Chesapeake on their recent tour with local support from four veteran Hampton Roads metal bands.

The West Virginia based groove metallers Byzantine made their second visit to the Riffhouse Pub since October last year in support of their new album, To Release is To Resolve, released on April 07. The original lineup for this tour included Mobile Deathcamp who dropped off the tour for unspecified reasons and Byzantine decided to go on the road without touring support.

Skyless started off the evening with their style of melodic death metal. This was the band’s second appearance since last November where they took a break to write new material.

SiNN or Stranded in Newport News played second, getting the crowd fired up with their thrash metal assault and outrageous stage banter by lead singer and guitarist Chad Bailey.

Chesapeake’s own Til The Casket Drops took the stage next and tore through their set playing songs from their unreleased album including “Guilty Bystander” and “Soul Searchers.”

Art Of Destruction, Chesapeake’s death metal trio played a selection of songs from their album Detail The Dead, including the title track and “End Of The Suffering.”

Byzantine took the stage just before midnight and played a selection of songs from their five albums to a small but enthusiastic crowd. At one point Chris Ojeda, Byzantine’s rhythm guitarist and vocalist, yelled out to a fan who bought a copy of To Release is To Resolve earlier, “Do you want to hear some of it?” The band responded with “You Sleep, We Wake.”
