Known for hitting the streets to meet local fans, Indie rockers Spence brought their emo rock sound to a spirited show in Fort Wayne.
Spence filled the small venue of The Berlin on June 10th, for their Whiskey and Unicorns Tour. The guys of Spence are amazing at marketing and promoting their shows. They regularly reach out to people in the areas they are playing to encourage people to stop out and see them, and it worked in Fort Wayne. The club was hopping and immediately after walking in, we were greeted by the band.
Their energy on stage was contagious and the crowd absolutely felt their music. I don’t think Daniel David ever stopped jumping and moving around the stage. This three-piece band ripped it up for their set. They describe their music as loud emotional rock and they nailed it on the head. They are part glam, part heavy metal when needed, and a pinch of pop. They were very kind and responsive to their crowd making certain they appreciated each and every person at the show. Pounding the pavement to get others to hear their sound was a win for Spence.

Spence brought a band along who had played with them the night before. Illumira is an alternative/metal band that hails from Toledo. For me, Illumira, was the shocker of the night. They were fantastic, for me they were a combination of Faith No More and Deftones. They had energy and stage presence. I enjoyed them immensely and hope Illumira make it back to Fort Wayne in the near future.
