Five Finger Death Punch headlines a great lineup of Nothing More, Hellyeah, and Volbeat, and performs great on a Tuesday night in Fort Wayne.
Nothing More opened the show to a large crowd. These four guys hail from San Antonio, TX and they are touring in support of their sixth album. They definitely gained a whole new group of fans in Fort Wayne. Their show was high energy and the mix of hard, driving guitar and amazing vocals was well received.
Hellyeah is a conglomeration of other very successful groups. Vocalist Chad Gray (Mudvayne), guitarist Tom Maxwell (Nothingface), and drummer Vinnie Paul (Pantera) came together to form an amazing, hard-hitting band. The vocals were big and bold. Chad Gray came out giving it 100% and didn’t let up the entire set. The band interacted with the fans from the stage and obviously had a good time.
Volbeat is known for their superb live performances and this one certainly did not disappoint. This rockabilly metal band from Copenhagen knows how to get the crowd involved. The floor was standing room only and they called for crowd surfing and a circle pit numerous times. They love to see the crowd engaged. Near the end of the set lead singer, Michael Poulsen, called for all the kids in the audience to come to the stage to join them for a toned down version of Pool of Booze that they adapted to Pool of Chocolate. It was an endearing and adorable moment.
Five Finger Death Punch closed the show with an epic set showing why they are headlining. They never stopped moving, using every inch of the stage, and interacting with photographers and fans alike. Clearly, the band was having a great time performing. Not to be outdone by Volbeat, Ivan Moody also called several kids on stage and at one point had a poignant moment with the crowd explaining that he only gets to see his kids two months out of the year and he is touched when kids come to their shows. One of the things that stood out most was his heartfelt appreciation of the fans. Moody thanked the crowd numerous times for supporting 5FDP and expressed his love for all his loyal fans on more than one occasion during the show.
