Coliseum releases Anxiety’s Kiss at The New Vintage in Louisville with Young Widows, Child Bite and Exacta Cube.
On a swampy evening at The New Vintage, Louisville based Coliseum celebrated the release of the band’s recent album Anxiety’s Kiss to a supportive group of family and friends. Coliseum opened their set with the first cut from the album, the bass heavy “We are the Water†immediately getting everyone’s attention and never let up.
Their set included a good mix of songs like “Blind in one eye,” “Late Night Trains,” and “Black Magic Punks.” Coliseum finished their set with three songs from the new Anxiety’s Kiss “Comedown,” “Dark Light of Seduction,” and “Escape Yr Skull.” The evening was a great showcase for a very humble and appreciative Coliseum and their new album as they start out on a 21 date tour.

Starting their show in complete darkness, their stage backlit by lights in their amp stacks and on their mic stands, Louisville based Young Widows took the stage. They started their set strong, along the way playing favorites like “The Money.” At one point Evan asked the familiar crowd what they wanted to hear next which the Young Widows were happy to perform. Even though their set was cut short due to an amp/electrical issue Young Widows were the perfect lead to headliner Coliseum.

Formed in 2005, Detroit-based punk/metal band Child Bite kicked the evening into overdrive,  performing a high energy set of original music. Starting their set off with “Dementia,” Child Bite treated those in attendance to an unrelenting and powerful show. Along the way they played standards “Ancestral Ooze” and “Molestation of the Arts” in their usual wild and frenetic manner. The stage could hardly contain lead singer Shawn Knight as many times thru the night he ended in the crowd. It was an awesome, raw, high energy set.

Hailing from Louisville, KY Exacta Cube started the evening off with an electronic improvisational set that those in attendance were clearly into. They had a camera set up over the mixing boards and video content projecting on a screen behind them to added to the overall experience. Unfortunately, their set was cut short due to an electronic malfunction.
