In a bit of good news for new and older fans alike, Drowning Pool has a surprise for you hitting stores today.
Sinner (Unlucky 13th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) will drop and it includes two ablums from the good people at Bicycle Music. The original album, Sinner (released on June 15, 2001 and went platinum in six short weeks), and the other is a demo album totaling thirteen tracks with many never released.
The current line-up for the band is C.J. Pierce (guitar), Stevie Benton (bass), Mike Luce (drums), and Jasen Moreno (vocals). Mike and C.J. started the band in Dallas, TX, in 1996, taking their name from the 1975 Paul Newman film, The Drowning Pool. As many older fans already know, Moreno replaced Dave Williams who joined the band in 1999 and unexpectedly passed away from heart disease in 2002. The original release had a great amount of success with three singles that, even if you didn’t know the band’s name, you’ll recognize them by their songs: “Bodies,†“Tear Away,†and “Sinner.â€
The second album has some truly golden tracks in its demos, remixes, and unreleased songs. One of the most notable is the 13th track, “Heroes Sleeping.” It is a special demo from the archives of the band, which is previously unreleased, and is Williams’ final recording with the band. Eerily, Williams sings one last song from beyond his early demise from the music scene. The song showcases all the elements of why Drowning Pool had such success on the road at venues and festivals, like Ozzfest. The song also sheds light on the direction of where the guys were heading had Williams been able to stay with the band.
Sinner (Unlucky 13th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) is a collection of rare tracks that finally have their opportunity to be properly enjoyed. The two-disc set is going to make the perfect gift for the upcoming holiday season for any Drowning Pool fan or music enthusiast in general. You can pre-order the album now at iTunes or Amazon.
