Grammy-nominated vocalist Beth Hart returns with her first solo concert album in 13 years – Live From New York: Front & Center.
Since the release of Beth Hart’s seminal concert album Live at Paradiso back in 2005, she has really pushed her creative boundaries which have resulted in somewhat of a genre-defying sound that really blurs the lines between many different styles of popular music.
The career-spanning performance highlights the classic cuts from throughout Beth’s extensive discography with a particular emphasis on her last studio album Fire On The Floor. Several tracks from the latter feature on the album including the likes of the upbeat, sweet love song “Let’s Get Together”, the passionate swinging jazz number “Love Gangster” and the heartfelt “No Place Like Home”.
Beth truly showcases her sensational vocal range during the hard rocking “Delicious Surprise”; Hart holds nothing back here. The recording also features reworked and stripped back renditions of both “Broken and Ugly” and “Isolation”, giving Hart’s fans the opportunity to hear these old favourites as they’ve never heard them before.
It goes without saying that Beth Hart pours her heart and soul into every performance and on this recording the live performances of “St. Theresa”, “Tell Her You Belong To Me” and “Leave The Light On” are a testament to that.
Of course, Beth Hart has collaborated with guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa on three studio albums now, culminating in the release of Black Coffee earlier this year. Although Joe doesn’t feature on the record himself Beth is accompanied by legendary guitarist Sonny Landreth during a foot stomping, slide infused airing of the blues-rock number “Can’t Let Go” and her captivating take on Bill Withers’ “For My Friend”. These tracks were originally featured on Hart and Bonamassa’s first two albums Don’t Explain and Seesaw respectively.
Beth Hart’s latest release truly represents her mesmerising live performances and the many different facets of her artistry from the jazz singer, soul songstress, the rock goddess and last but not least the leading lady of the blues. The US-based vocal powerhouse will be returning to the UK for an extensive headline run this month and is not to be missed.
Live From New York: Front & Center will be released via Mascot Label Group/Provogue on Friday 13th April.
