TheMuggs-FullTilt-AlbumArtworkDo you like hard rock and blues?  Do you love it when a rock band captures that “live” sound to enjoy at any time?  If you said, “Hell yes, Chuck!” to these questions, then you need to check out Full Tilt by The Muggs.

In case you were wondering, The Muggs are Tony DeNardo (bass), Todd Glass (drums), and Danny Methric (guitar and vocals).  Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, they have jammed together since 2000.

Starting out with an ode to Kiss Alive with the introduction as the “Ugliest band in World…THE MUGGS!” this 2-disc recording from The Muggs showcases the unbridled hard rock fury of this band.  Recorded live at the fabulous Cadieux Café in Detroit, the hideously hypnotic grooves start out with 6 To Midnite and carry you on a rocking river of sound.

There is something here for everyone one on Full Tilt.  However, I did have some favorite tunes to share with you.  Need Ya Baby is a feisty Cactus inspired jam with the paragon of drumming by Todd Glass.  While Born Ugly is a heavy steam shovel of grimacing rock.   You’ll find some sweet and sultry slide guitar on Dear Theo.  The first disc finishes up with Slow Curve, a spectacular cut with some excellent interlaced riffs that demonstrate how good this band is.

The second disc kicks you in the head with the roaring guitar work of Danny Methric in Get It On.  The dark and menacing slow burn of Tony DeNardo’s bass will haunt you in Never Know Why.  Then there is Kitchen Sink Blues which has you running full tilt into the breach.  Finally, Doc Mode rolls out some fantastic riffs and a guitar solo that reminds me of Robin Trower and Dave Navarro.

You really can’t go wrong with Full Tilt by The Muggs.  You can find it on iTunes and Amazon.  Better yet, check them out live and pick up this beauty at the show!
