Following a successful UK run in 2017 legendary reggae outfit The Wailers will return to our British shores in March for an extensive tour.
Throughout their illustrious career together, Bob Marley and The Wailers generated worldwide record sales exceeding 100 million. Subsequently, the group’s seminal 1977 long player Exodus was declared to be the “Best Album of the Century” by Time Magazine. On the other hand, Spin Magazine sited Bob Marley and The Wailers as 4th in their “Top 50 Greatest Bands of All Time”. These duly deserved accolades reflect the group’s significant contribution to the music world.
Since Bob Marley’s passing in 1981, famed bassist and founder Aston “Familyman” Barrett along with original Wailer’s band members that include Junior Marvin and Donald Kinsey, have carried on the musical legacy left before them by their bandleader, just as Bob requested affirming: “By doing that, you keep me alive through the music.”
In tribute to the late co-founder and drummer Carlton “Carly” Barrett, The Wailers present Aston Barrett, Jr. on drums. This young powerhouse delivers with his uncle’s inspiring trademark style. Lead singer Joshua David Barrett is a Rastaman by lifestyle and culture. Josh delivers Bob’s powerful message of Jah love and unity through his performance and interaction with the audience. Also on stage are singers Shema McGregor, daughter of I Three Judy Mowatt, and Hassanah, a multi-cultural powerhouse; veteran Owen “Dreadie” Reid on guitar/bass, and “triple bubble king” Javaughn Bond on keyboards.
Throughout their fourteen date tour, The Wailers will be performing the Legend album in full including hits such as “I Shot The Sherrif”, “Jammin’”, “Three Little Birds” and many more.
The Wailers forthcoming UK tour will commence at the O2 Academy Newcastle on Friday 2nd March and will conclude at London’s Indigo O2 on 17th March. Tickets for all shows are available now via www.gigsandtours.com.
