Mastodon continues their journey Once More ‘Round The Sun with a stop off at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California.

Although it’s been almost a year since Mastodon released their latest album, Once More ‘Round the Sun, the band are still touring strong in support of it. They are currently co-headlining The Missing Link Tour with Clutch. And if the show at the Fox Theater in Oakland was any indication, it showed absolutely no signs of Mastodon becoming road-weary anytime soon.

Opening the show with “Tread Lightly,” Mastodon was even more energetic on stage than usual and blasted through a setlist which featured both the old and the new.”The Czar,” “Black Tongue,” and “Ember City,” were all highlights, but it was “Blood and Thunder,” with Clutch frontman Neil Fallon sharing vocal duties, that was the peak of the evening.

Support for this leg of the tour came from Big Business, who provided the perfect wall of sound to open the show.

National Rock Review photographer Raymond Ahner was on had to report.
