When Ronnie James Dio died from cancer, Wendy Dio wanted to give it the attention it deserves. Since Ronnie’s passing by raising money to help fund research by having annual charity events such as Bowling and Ride for Ronnie with people riding their motorcycles to a free concert with food, merchandise and mingling with the musicians and others in entertainment and breaking the barriers between bands and fans that we share a common value. Our Health! The focus is on our health and screenings for various cancers.

The second annual Bowl 4 Ronnie is a red carpet event and where fans can mingle and bowl with the musicians and others hosted by ‘The Metal Show’ Eddie Trunk with raffles. This year items raffled were a specially designed bowling ball and bowling pin donated by PINZ.

A check for $25,000 was presented to UCLA for cancer research, which is making advances for screening such as using saliva though while others form of screening is still being used for prostate and the colon.

There also new award named after Dean Schacthel who died last year. He worked at Njij Entertainment who is responsible putting this event and the Ride For Ronnie together, so it is appropriate to have this named after him.

The bowling event will be held annually and next year is the Ride For Ronnie on May 7, 2017 at Los Encinos Park at Encino, California.
