Los Angeles-based Old Blood brings a dark and dreamy Doom Metal performance to Indy’s Taps Live.

Hot off a well-received appearance at The Maryland Doom Fest, Old Blood makes a stop in Indianapolis on their Taking Refuge Tour.

In their September 2016 publication, Rolling Stone Magazine listed Old Blood as one of the “10 new artists you need to know”, and it is easy to see why. Previously described as “Amy Winehouse jamming with Kyuss at a desert LSD party”, this band is unlike any other in this genre.

Old Blood begin their set with an almost completely dark stage. With the band remaining in almost darkness, lead singer Feathers stands on a deep, red-hued Ouija board faced light box, as Old Blood start off with a heavy, moody and seductive set. Feathers gives a performance that provides a theatrical quality with a lighted hoop highlighting the lyrical nature of the music.  Back bends, twists and turns in her spontaneous choreography accentuate the melodic aspects of Old Blood’s music and set them above and beyond the norm.  Toward the end of the set, Feathers wears a lighted cape and moves out into the audience, moving her cape in sync with the music.

Feathers is an uncommon doom metal front-person, creating an almost seductive experience with a range of vocals that resonates above the music. Band-mates Diesel on drums, Gunner on guitar, Octopus on bass and Stone on keyboards compliment Feathers by creating the deep and earthy sounds that pull the whole performance together. Old Blood is definitely a band to watch.
