The Revolution have expanded their tour into the Midwest & Texas before heading to the West Coast.
The reunion originally consisted of just six dates, starting with a special show at Paisley Park for Celebration 2017, marking the first anniversary of Prince’s passing. However, they were pleasantly surprised by the response this announcement received that they have added additional dates, including second shows in Chicago, New York and Philadelphia, turning it into a full US tour.
The Revolution was formed in 1979 but underwent several different line-ups over the next four years before Prince settled with his final team of Bobby Z (drums), Matt Fink (keyboards), Wendy Melvoin (guitar), Lisa Coleman (keyboards/piano) and Brown Mark (bass).
The Revolution were featured on three of Prince’s studio albums – Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day and Parade. Some members were also included on his album, 1999. This award-winning group had several #1 songs together, as well as winning two Grammy Awards and an Oscar for the song “Purple Rain”.
The band initially performed three sold-out shows at the famous Minneapolis venue, First Avenue, shortly after Prince died. After the success of these three show, they decided to put together a tour. Perhaps underestimating their draw, they scheduled only six dates, which has now been expanded to a 27-show tour with more dates still to be announced.
Some dates are already sold-out so if this is one you want to go see, do not hesitate. Buy your tickets today.
