Celebrate the Life and Music of Ronnie James Dio.

In many ways, Wendy Dio, widow of the legendary metal singer Ronnie James Dio, is the closest connection the fans have to the singer since his death from stomach cancer in 2010. Wendy married Ronnie in the mid-70s and served as his manager for 28 years. The two had a bond that is still evident in the way she speaks of him today.

Preserving Ronnie’s legacy is something Wendy is very passionate about. She’s the president and co-founder of the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, where she’s done incredible work through fund-raising, merchandising, and events, including this weekend’s Memorial planned for May 15-17 in Los Angeles, that will include everything from bowling and BBQ to a motorcycle ride and live music.

“It’s a celebration of Ronnie’s life and his music,” says Wendy Dio in an interview with Rachel May from Hard Edge Radio. “I just wanted to continue his legacy of giving back to the fans and also keeping Ronnie’s music alive, and his name alive, and to make some money into a cause which took Ronnie’s life away.”

In addition to details about the memorial, Wendy talks about her work with the cancer fund and some of her fondest memories of Ronnie which include the Holy Diver album, buying their first house, and getting their first dog – all milestone events that Wendy says she’d enjoy reliving if she could.
