The Smashing Pumpkins have announced their first tour featuring original members since 2000.
The Smashing Pumpkins lineup for this 36-date tour will include Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlain and James Iha and kicks off in Glendale, AZ on July 12. Tickets for the Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour go on sale on February 23 at 10am local time and will be available here.
The tour was announced this morning with a video featuring Ali Laenger and LySandra Roberts who featured on the album cover for Siamese Dream.
The Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour will mark the 30th anniversary for the band, who formed in Chicago back in 1988. They will perform songs from their extensive back catalog of material, including from the albums Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore, and Machina.
Joining the original members will be longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder, making this a three-guitar lineup for this tour.
“Some 30 years ago, as The Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha and I began a musical journey in the cramped rear bedroom of my Father’s house. And so it’s magic to me that we’re able to coalesce once more around the incredible Jimmy Chamberlin, to celebrate those songs we’ve made together,” said Corgan. This show and staging will be unlike any we’ve ever done, and will feature a set unlike any we’ve ever played. For if this is a chance at a new beginning, we plan on ushering it in with a real bang.”
