James Bay is the very definition of a modern day rock star.

It goes without saying that the chart-topping British singer/songwriter and guitarist witnessed great success with his debut album Chaos & The Calm. Singles from the album such as “Hold Back The River” and “Let It Go” stormed their way into the Top 10 of the Official UK Charts. The multi-million selling release resulted in a Bay being deservedly bestowed with a whole raft of accolades and awards that includes both BRIT and Ivor Novello wins along with a trio of GRAMMY® award nominations.

James Bay releases his eagerly anticipated sophomore album Electric Light on Friday 18th May via Virgin EMI with a supporting UK headline tour coinciding with the release throughout May/June. Bay will also perform at select summer festival dates that include appearances at Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend in Swansea, the Isle of Wight Festival and TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow.

With Electric Light James Bay has really pushed his creative and musical boundaries whilst showcasing a louder sound utilising the use of transistor guitars, as heard in the first two singles from the record “Wild Love” and “Pink Lemonade”. Speaking of this evolution Bay notes “If I had to describe my first album visually it would probably be a flame – while this new album is about a real sonic and artistic evolution for me. The feeling of a 100 watt bulb expanding and brightening is what I envisioned. Electric Light came to my mind and I knew it was perfect.”

James Bay’s forthcoming UK headline tour will commence with a sold-out show at The Roundhouse in London on May 29th before returning to the North East of England with a date at the O2 Academy Newcastle on 5th June. Tickets for all shows are on sale now via www.jamesbay.com
