80s In the Park is back for its 5th year, bigger than ever, with a twist fans will love.
This event, originally scheduled for September of 2017, had to be postponed due to the devastating hurricane damage incurred by the East Coast of Florida. The promoters of the festival were not going to let that deter them and got right on rescheduling all but one or two of the original bands to perform. The fans of this festival, most have gone since the first one, were very excited about the reschedule.
The festival has a slightly different name this year, 80s In the Park – Rockin’ Hotel, which is giving a hint as to what is to come. Who remembers the Hyatt House in Los Angeles, CA? Or shall I say “Riot House”?! The ‘twist’ in the festival events this year is that it all takes place in one location, The International Palms Resort in Cocoa Beach, FL. In the past, it has taken place in various places in Melbourne, just south of Cocoa (part of it at a park, part of it in an auditorium, etc). With this change, it should bring some semblance of the infamous Hyatt House, with rock stars and VIP fans intermingling after each night’s shows until late in the night. Quoting from their website, “You will need to ask for Monday off!!!”
Headliners for each night will be L.A.Guns (Friday), Lynch Mob (Saturday), and House of Lords (Sunday). Other notable bands who will be performing include, Winger, Gene Loves Jezebel, Nova Rex, Lillian Axe, and many more!!
There will be a large rock and roll convention with visiting 80s stars available for meet and greets, as well as look-alikes, and a multitude of vendors. An extra treat this year will find Don Jamieson from “That Metal Show” as the Friday and Saturday MC.
It should prove to be a stress-free, rocking, and relaxing four-day weekend with no traveling needed between venues for the shows nor the VIP after parties. After all, 80s in The Park, in its 5th year, is still the largest all-inclusive 80s music weekend in the country and well worth the trip. The VIP experience is the way to go for this festival. The ticket includes all concerts and after parties, rock-con, and a Victory Casino Cruise earlier in the day on Friday, Feb 16th!
There are some VIP tickets as well as general admission still available at press time and can be purchased on their website. The resort also had some rooms also available which can be booked in advance and nothing with be charged until arriving. What a deal??! Follow their Facebook page and website for possible BOGO (buy one get one) deals on VIP tickets.
The International Palms Resort is located directly on the beach and has many amenities including three onsite restaurants, a large pool with poolside cabanas for rent, and bands will perform both at the beachside tiki bar as well as in the huge ballroom inside the resort.
