The Wild Savages got medieval on a full house at the New Dodge Lounge, during the release party for their self-titled debut.

It is 11 pm and the time has come to get this triple threat of vicious rock and roll going with Bison Machine. They have a new guitarist, Casey O’Ryan, who also jams with Blue Snaggletooth, and the headlining Wild Savages. This gig at the New Dodge Lounge in Hamtramck, MI is only his second with Bison Machine, but you would never guess from his performance. Bison Machine recently released their album Hoarfrost and dish up a heavy dose of stoner rock. The music is thick and delicious with pulsing bass and lacerating drums aimed for your mid-section.

Against The Grain took control of the stage with a firestorm of music, which set the crowd on fire. The band recently returned to town after touring with Atomic Bitchwax and is supporting their aptly titled new album Road Warriors. Against The Grain are as sharp as a razor. They break out tunes from each of their albums with the hardest hitting tracks from “Run For Your Life” and “ Afraid Of Nothing” setting the tone. Hair was whipping around on and off the stage and a couple of boisterous fans got into an intense bout of slam dancing. This is raw rock soaked in brutal truth.

The Wild Savages got into a serious celebration, for the release of their self-titled debut album with a house full of fans, at the New Dodge Lounge. Bass guitarist Joe Kupiec looks like a man possessed as he belts out “Do or Die,” while drummer Stefan Krstovic mercilessly beats the sin out of his drum kit. Swimming in the saturated orange scream of his guitar softly weeping, Casey O’Ryan intently conjures the beasts of hell. The air stinks of hot leather and oil as the crowd cheers for more. The Wild Savages play one last song and leave us all wanting more.

This is a great night of blood red rock, with three hard rocking bands, playing music that feeds the savage inside of you. It is the sound of a pounding heart that makes the Michigan music scene blaze. May this fire cleanse our souls.
