Shania Twain brings her NOW Tour to the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI.

As the opening beats of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” filled the air, Canadian country music superstar Shania Twain entered the arena in glorious fashion. She strolled through the throng of fans, stopping to shake hands and wave as she made her way to the main stage. Canadian flags waved back as this was the closest her hometown fans would get with no Windsor stop scheduled on the Canadian leg of the tour. The five-time Grammy winner did not disappoint, as Twain cranked out hit after hit from her massive collection collminating in just over 120 minutes of artistry and showomanship.

Opening with “Life’s About to Get Good” from her latest release NOW, a new tune which is sure to be another notch in her 24-year long stretch of hits and another bullet point on her career as the biggest selling female country singer ever. Twain was complemented by a massive stage production featuring levitating hydraulic cubes with LED screen fronts, a five piece band, massive projections and a crew of dancers.

Working her way to the top of a levitated cube, Twain broke into “UP!” as a troupe of dancers executed a mylar balloon dance below. The group traded places during “Don’t Be Stupid” as the dancers executed a flawless Riverdance on the cubes.

Throughout the night, Twain interacted heavily with her fans, had numerous outfit changes, and poured her heart out about the struggles she has endured over her career. This was most noticable during her highly emotional introduction to the new singles “Poor Me” and “I’m Alright”. She took to the air as she flew around the arena in a swing for “Soldier” and “Still the One” as the fans provided a sea of cell phone light waves below her.

The night ended with blasts of confetti raining down on the fans as the riffs of “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and “Rock This Country” filled the air.

Opening the night was Switzerland based act Bastian Baker, who set the tone for the night with one of the best covers of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” you’ll ever hear. Baker, who is also a judge on Belgium’s version of “The Voice” got the crowd going with references to the Red Wings, would also join Twain for “Party of Two” and “Swingin with my Eyes Closed”.
