Napalm Death and Voivod lead the charge as the Through Space and Grind Tour pulls into a sold out show at the Oakland Metro.

From the set performed by Grindcore legends Napalm Death (who were joined on stage by Jello Biafra for a cover of Dead Kennedys “Nazi Punks Fuck Off”), to Voivod dedicating an epic version of “Astronomy Domine” to their late guitarist Piggy, the show was over six hours of crushing Metal and Grind.

As if that wasn’t enough, support came from gore metal favorites Exhumed (who ripped through some of their earliest songs with original bass player Ross Sewage) Iron Reagan (who brought out Barney Greenway from Napalm Death for a cover of SSD’s “Glue”), Phobia, and Black Crown Initiate.

Photographer Raymond Ahner was on hand to report.

About The Author

Raymond Ahner is a professional freelance photographer residing in San Francisco, California. Growing up in the Bay Area, Raymond was lucky enough to witness both the Punk and Thrash Metal scene of the 1980's explode literally right in front of his eyes. It was a pretty special time in his life, and is what instilled his love for live music. Over the years Raymond has been fortunate enough to combine his passion for live music with his love of photography. And although he will always love shooting the big arena Rock show, it is in a tiny, packed to the rafters club were he his most at home with his gear.
