The 16th annual CMT On Tour presents Jon Pardi and his Lucky Tonight Tour with special guests Runaway June to The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI on Friday night.

As part of his 17 show headlining tour, Jon Pardi rolls into Grand Rapids for his Lucky Tonight Tour to play in front of a full house inside The Intersection, the legendary concert lounge that has brought the best of local and national live music and entertainment to West Michigan.  Jon is preparing to wrap up his third headlining tour this weekend with only one show remaining after his Michigan performance.

Joining Jon on his tour is the new female trio known as Runaway June.  This group consists of Naomi Cooke on lead vocals and guitar, Hannah Mullholland on guitar, mandolin and high harmonies, along with Jennifer Wayne on guitar and low harmony.  The three part harmonies are often compared to and called “the Dixie Chicks of this generation’s traditional country.”

During the short nine-song set, the ladies play a variety of songs that start off with “Train Whistle,” “If I Was So Bad” and “Somebody Like You” before their current single “Wild West.”  The latest hit is a song about and dedicated to Jennifer’s late grandfather, actor John Wayne.

The high energy trio gets the crowd energized with the upbeat tempo hit “Fast As You” by Dwight Yoakam before showing their appreciation of classic traditional country by diving into a medley of other covers with “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, “Ramblin’ Fever” by Merle Haggard and “On The Road Again” by Willie Nelson.

Before ending their set for the evening, the crowd-pleasing trio performs the song that helped them get a record deal with “Made You Forget Her” and their debut hit single “Lipstick.”

Jon Pardi takes the stage next opening the show with “Paycheck” and “Out Of Style” from his second studio album California Sunrise released from Capital Nashville.  Along with his distinctive classic country sound, Jon also portrays his fancy footwork while wiggling back and forth behind the microphone as the females in front of the stage approve and proudly support.

Jon then takes a jump back in time to 2013 and his first top 10 hit “Up All Night” before falling further back to 2012 for his debut single “Missing You Crazy” off his debut album Write You A Song.

With Jon’s respect and admiration for the country classics, he adds the cover “Mama’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys” by the Highwaymen, while the crowd gives the song a hoot and a holler during the performance.

Throughout the show, Jon mixes up the setlist with his signature honky-tonk ballads and songs from both his studio albums including “Empty Beer Cans,” “Trash A Motel Room,” “All Time High,” “Lucky Tonight” along with his current and third consecutive #1 single “Heartache On The Dance Floor.”  During the show, the sold-out crowd shows Jon and his band support by raising their fists and beer cans in the air as they sing along word for word to each and all the songs.

Jon ends his set with “What I Can’t Put Down” before thanking the crowd and walking off stage.  As the stage lights dim to darkness, the crowd inside The Intersection start chanting “Pardi” as they await his arrival for an encore.

Jon returns to the stage and continues on with the title track to the current album “California Sunrise.”  With the crowd still electrified from the evening, they deafen the concert lounge as they sing along to Jon’s first and second #1 hits “Head Over Boots” and “Dirt On My Boots.”

With the popularity of traditional country music on the rise, there is no more evidence than to look at Jon Pardi.  Being awarded by The Academy Of Country Music as the 2017 ACM New Male Vocalist Of The Year, Jon outranked many other male artists in country music as they portray to the country-pop side of the genre.

After the holidays, Jon will kick off the New Year by heading out to join Miranda Lambert on the road for 2018.  To follow along with news and events by Jon, Runaway June or The Intersection, be sure to click on the links below.
