The Goo Goo Dolls “Slide” into the Hard Rock Live to give a powerhouse performance to the fans of Central Florida.

A big venue, with a big name, The Hard Rock Live Orlando is the largest capacity location of the Hard Rock brand franchise.  Strategically located in the heart of Universal Studios City Walk, it is capable of handling the largest performances.  The night of August 30th was no exception, as droves of fans packed the giant ampi-theater, proving by massive numbers that everyone does know their “Name,”  the Goo Goo Dolls.

The stage is huge, the lights are bright and the crowd is mesmerized as the curtains lift to reveal vocalist John Rzeznik and bassist Robby Takac charging the audience amidst a flurry of laser lights, strobes and fog.

Takac engages his signature, well worn Yamaha bass while performing barefoot.  The animated bass man can frequently be seen throwing kicks, grins, and charging about the stage as he performs his version of Rock and Roll kung-fu for the screaming fans.  Rzeznik greets nearby fans with his rock-star charisma that has swooned the adoring crowds for years.  These two are joined by ten years plus, touring veterans Brad Fernquist on guitar, mandolin and backing vocals, and Korel Tunador on keyboards and also lending a hand with vocals.  The newest addition to the touring team brings studio musician Craig Macintyre to the drum kit, handling their percussive needs since 2014.

The Goo Goo Dolls set list included hits from the past three decades.  Originally classified as a “punk” band in the early 80’s, they have transitioned their genre to “alternative rock” in the 90’s and are currently categorized as “pop rock,” with their latest releases.  The Dolls gave their fans servings of each, starting the night out with “Tattered Edge,” and “Home.”  They smoothly transition into the sing-a-long classic “Slide,” and proceed to deliver a whopping sixteen additional songs to the crowd, ending the set with a memorable performance of the chartbuster “Iris.”  A brief pause ensues, and Rzeznik and Takac return to perform an encore of the bands latest work “Boxes.”

The Goo Goo Dolls provided the central Florida fans with a larger than life, epic evening that left even the concert purist satisfied with their ticket purchase!
