Swiss folk metal outfit Eluveite stopped in Detroit to wild crowd with Faroese viking quartet, Tyr, providing opening support with gusto.
Hailing from Winterthur in northern Switzerland, Eluveite formed in 2002 riding the wave of European folk metal. The band has released six studio albums, their most recent being Origins released on Nuclear Blast Records in August 2014. They have toured the US in support of Origins, and are now on the road as the tour continues into 2015 with stops all over Europe and South America.
Supporting Eluveite is Viking metal band, Tyr, create music from the lore of Faroe Islands. Tyr formed in 1998 and has since released seven studio albums. The most recent, Valkyrja, was released in September 2013 on Metal Blade Records.
