Electric Wizard and Satan’s Satyrs bring the smoke and sludge to Chicago, marking the Wizard’S first Windy City performance in over a decade.

The quintessential masters of doom and stoner metal, Electric Wizard, returned to Chicago and played in front of a sold out crowd at the Metro as part of their first North American tour since 2002. With their crushing and fuzzy tones emanating from Marshall stacks, the band played new materials off of their latest album, Time to Die (2014), with tracks such as “Incense for the Damned,” followed by hits from their highly influential Dopethrone (2000) via their seismically rumbling, “Funeropolis.”

Satan’s Satyrs, hailing from Virginia, kicked the night off with their brand of motorcycle rebel rock and tinged with a bit of Satan.

Bassist Clayton Burgess pulled double duty in both acts of the evening.
