Devil You Know ended their first North American headlining tour in Amityville, New York… and they’re just getting started.
Even though it was the last night of their “Make America Metal Again” tour, metalcore supergroup Devil You Know showed no sign of fatigue as they performed tracks from their sophomore release, They Bleed Red. They hit the stage at full speed, starting with the CD’s opener “Consume The Damned” and never let up until they ended with the disc’s first single/video “The Way We Die.” Howard Jones announced that as this tour was ending, they were preparing for their upcoming tour with Hatebreed and DevilDriver, which will undoubtedly be one of the heavier tours this summer.
Devil You Know features a roster of veteran players who have played with many well-known metal acts. The lineup includes Francesco Artusato – All Shall Perish (guitar); Ryan Wombacher – Bleeding Through (bass); Howard Jones – Killswitch Engage (vocals); and Nick Augusto – Trivium (drums).
Devil You Know brought LA-based progressive metal/trash band, Oni, on tour as direct support. Lead vocalist Jake Oni describes their sound as “Dream Theater meets Slipknot,” which is a remarkably accurate description. Xylo-synth player John “D” helps add a new dimension to their unique sound, and when combined with the band’s alternating harsh and melodic vocals, makes their upcoming release one for your collection.
Prior to Oni’s set, Brooklyn-based The Haunting performed selections from their recently released album, Nightmares. With music ranging from guitar-oriented rock to nearly ambient soundscapes (written by multi-instrumentalist John Von Braunsberg) combined with melodic and occasionally (and appropriately) haunting vocals by Veronica Secreti, they have a distinctive sound that sets them apart from much of what’s heard in the local music scene.
All told, it was a great night full of original music, and fans left looking forward to seeing more of all three bands.
