The Starlight Girls, a five piece band that hail from Brooklyn, are laid back indie rock infused at times with 40’s jazz club swing (“Flutterby”), which can switch gears to a lo-fi Nancy Sinatra sass (“Gossip”), or a grungy electro groove (“7X3”).
But pervasive in all the tracks on their self-titled EP and new single is a haunting vocal delivery by singer Christina B that is very reminiscent of 90’s indie darling Poe. Starlight Girls are on a mini-tour of the midwest before heading back east. I caught them last night in support of Gringo Star at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids, MI.
