Breaking Benjamin brought energy to the AGRI Event Center Friday night as the fans were in for what was one great night of music.

The line of fans looked like it went on forever as everyone arrived early to an all general admission show. As the arena began to fill, Starset was taking the stage and had fans creeping closer to hear the guys from Columbus, Ohio.

The band has a very different live performance compared to other bands out there, all with blue lighted masks and black spandex pants, except for vocalist Dustin Bates who is also the vocalist for American rock band Downplay.

Playing almost all of their songs on their debut album, Transmissions, the band had the crowd asking for more with big cheers after every song. The band performed their two biggest hits, “Carnivore,” and “My Demons,” that have been played a lot on Sirius XM Octane and have had good responses. The band’s set ended in a very special way as Breaking Benjamin lead singer, Benjamin Burnley, came out as a surprise to sing “My Demons” with the band.

The fans had waited since 2007 to see Breaking Benjamin back in their town. Now with a new fresh lineup the band took the stage by performing “So Cold” off of their 2004 album, We Are Not Alone. Fans helped Burnley by singing when the microphone was pointed to the crowd. The band performed “Failure,” and “Angles Fall,” which are two of the singles off of their newest album, Dark Before Dawn.

Breaking Benjamin made up for their long absence by performing 23 songs total. They surprised the fans by adding in Queen’s song, “Who Wants to Live Forever,” which was sung by rhythm guitarist Keith Wallen. They also did “Ænema” by Tool, which was sung by bassist Aaron Bruch. Burnley added that Tool had been one of the biggest influences on the band and without them Breaking Benjamin would not have been the band that they are today.

The lineup includes Burnley on vocals, Wallen (former guitarist of Adelitas Way), Jasen Rauch (former guitarist for Red), Aaron Bruch as a great catch with on point screams, and Shaun Foist another great find through Youtube.

The band finished the night off with its famous hit “Diary of Jane,” which had all fans plus security singing along to every word. The band will continue touring so be sure to check out when they will be coming to your town so you can get your tickets because this is a band you do not want to miss!
