British RnB newcomer AMiR makes his North East debut alongside chart-topping superstar Gabrielle.
AMiR is getting ready to release his debut album All Or Nothing on 17th May and subsequently, the hotly tipped singer/songwriter is on the road across the UK promoting his forthcoming release.
Born in North-London to a Punjabi father and a mother from the Midlands, AMiR has always had a burning passion for music. Since a young age, music has been the only path for the gifted performer. Starting with the drums, he soon found music an addiction taking on the guitar and piano. Since then, he’s worked to become the complete musician.
Tonight AMiR is on Tyneside to open the proceedings ahead of Gabrielle’s headline appearance at Sage Gateshead. With three artists on the bill this evening, AMiR is the first act of the night. Of course, it’s never easy being the first to take the stage, especially so early in the evening, but it’s fair to say that the majestic Hall One of the Sage Gateshead is well attended as the versatile performer kicks off the proceedings at 7.30pm.
With three acts on the bill, AMiR has just over 20 minutes to make his mark. With no time to waste, the soulful Londoner gives the Tyneside audience a preview of his forthcoming album. This includes a funky airing of “No-One Else”, floor filler “Feel For You” and current single “Stolen”, to name but a few.
With his catchy hooks, infectious melodies and energetic performances it’s no surprise that the soulful Londoner has been receiving frequent airplay on the likes of KISS FM, BBC Asian Network, along with support from BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley and Craig Charles on 6Music, and rightly so. Each of the tracks performed this evening have mainstream radio appeal.
Watching AMiR perform you can see he wears his influences proudly on his sleeve, and throughout his set this evening, undertones of Michael Jackson shine through. None more so than during the latter stages of the set when he Moonwalks across the stage.
AMiR’s set is short but sweet, and over before we know it. But he most certainly gets the party started on this Friday night in the North East, leaving the crowd wanting more. Expect to see much more from AMiR in the not too distant future.
