Ace Frehley lands his spaceship for his fans at the King Center of the Performing Arts in Melbourne, Fl.

Ten Kiss albums and seven solo records that span a forty plus year career is but one of many reasons that iconic rocker, Ace Frehley is a piece of rock guitar history.  His spacely image and unique Les Paul wizardry has mentored decades of would-be rock stars air guitaring his songs to the bathroom mirror.   This evening, central Florida fans go to see the legend up close and personal in the intimate setting of the world famous King Center.  Here today is a clean and sober, sharp and focused Ace Frehley that pleased fans with a show that fused Kiss classics, with modern and vintage Ace material.

Frehley’s touring band – comprised of Richie Scarlet on guitar, also sporting a vintage Les Paul, Chris Wyse, a well-known session and touring bassist, and Scot Coogan on drums – are all seasoned performers lending a hand with vocal duties throughout the night.  Scarlet could frequently be seen interacting with the crowd as the show progressed, adding a great compliment to Frehley’s performance and stage show.  Ace, known for his iconic guitar chops and smoldering vintage tone appeared with his signature Les Paul, and hands adorned with those vintage “biker style” rings we have seen for decades.

Fans in attendance ranged from teenagers to seniors and even included a few concert goers dressed in their 1980’s rock ensemble.  In the crowd could be seen a variety of vintage Ace and KISS shirts and memorabilia.  One fan even had a large tattoo of vintage Ace across his back that he eagerly stripped his shirt off to share with the crowd.  The set list for this evening consisted of fourteen monster hits with more than half being vintage KISS tracks.  “Love Gun”, “Cold Gin”, “Detroit Rock City” and “Deuce” sent fans into a fist-pumping frenzy as the band delivered true-to-life and flawless performances of these classics.  Ace purists also enjoyed his solo hits, “Toys”, “Snow Blind”, and the Ace live show staple, “New York Groove”.  It was apparent to all in attendance that Ace and the Ace Frehley Band delivered a classic rock concert experience that satisfied both Ace and KISS fans.  Ace Frehley’s playing is smooth and fluent, and clearly focused.  His tone can only be described as pure Ace.  A great performance, leaving concert goers with a great memory of a rock icon!
