Rockers 3 Doors Down deliver a power-packed performance for enthusiastic Louisville fans with Red Sun Rising from Ohio.
01-Sep-2016: Touring in support of their most recent album, Us and The Night, longtime rockers 3 Doors Down hit the Louisville Palace stage to a huge ovation.
3 Doors Down started their set off with a couple of songs from the album above, “Still Alive” and “The Broken,” along with fan favorite “It’s Not My Time,” tribute song “Citizen/Soldier,” and “Believer.”
The middle part of their set was a 3 Doors Down fan’s dream showcasing their songwriting and longevity with meaningful classics like the moving “Let Me go” followed by “Away from the Sun,” “Duck and Run,” “Let Me Be Myself,” and “The Road I’m On.” There was a great energy in the room (and from the stage) as many in attendance were singing these powerful songs word for word.
The last part of the main set started off powerfully with the familiar chords of 3 Doors Down classic hit “Be Like That.” Fans sang with band on this favorite track, ending in applause and cheers. Next was the title song from the new album, “Us and the Night,” which Brad explained was only the second time they had performed the song live – and the first time that they “didn’t screw it up.” It didn’t matter; the audience loved it.
“In the Dark,” another song from the new album followed before 3 Doors Down closed out their set with possibly their biggest hit, “Kryptonite,” including a brief, but memorable reggae breakdown.
3 Doors Down returned to the stage to kick off their three-song encore with a touching and intimate rendition of “Here Without You” that had the Palace singing and swaying in unison with Brad. The powerful “Loser” with its Nirvana-style soft verse/loud chorus was next drawing a huge ovation and pumping the crowd up to a frenzy.
Brad introduced the final song of the evening saying, “Like we end every concert, we send this song out to everyone who currently serves or has served this great country of ours – God Bless them, and God bless America.” 3 Doors Down launched into a stirring performance of “When I’m Gone” providing a stirring ending to a perfect evening of music.
3 Doors Down is Brad Arnold (vocals), Chris Henderson (lead guitar), Greg Upchurch (drums), Chet Roberts (guitar), and Justin Biltonen (bass).
Akron Ohio based rockers Red Sun Rising provided the support for the evening. Touring in support of their debut album, Polyester Zeal, their 30-minute set included hits “The Otherside,” “Amnesia,” and “Emotionless,” all well received. Red Sun Rising is Mike Protich (vocals, guitar), Ryan Williams (guitar), Ricky Miller (bass, vocals), Dave McGarry (guitar, vocals), and Pat Gerasia (drums).
