Guitarist discussed situation in Stone Sour about his release from the band with Revolver Magazine.
Jim Root says that it was all “for the better” that the split happened because he wanted to focus more on Slipknot due to the lack of material from the seven man group and fans are always asking Root when something new would be released.
“Slipknot made it possible for Stone Sour to have everything that it has and there were people in Slipknot that have been sitting idly waiting to do a new album. And I had fans asking me every day, ‘When are you doing Slipknot?’ It just seemed like it was in the air.”
Corey Taylor, frontman for both bands, says that the making of the new Slipknot album, .5:  The Gray Chapter, was understandably “difficult at first” after Root had been dismissed from Stone Sour.
Jim Root says of the situation, “I had so many emotions going on in my head when I was writing this shit…Â I had a little anger and I had a little bit of fucking depression. I was kind of hurt.”
Soon fans will find out if all of that anger and depression will manifest its way into a new Slipknot album worthy of their wait.
