Following on from the success of their first two singles, North East based progressive rock outfit The Pipe Brothers Project release their third single, “Heart & Soul” via the ProgBlues Music label.

Brothers Andrew & Jamie Pipe formed The Pipe Brothers Project in early 2018 as an instrumental side project to their main band, The Mentulls, in order to have another outlet for the music they create.

Although it could be seen as a bold move to release purely instrumental music through this project, the duo seem to relish the challenge, as Andrew explains “Although we love writing songs with lyrics, we always believe instrumental music can be as powerful as a great song. At the end of the day they are just songs without words, the right melody can be timeless and speak volumes”.

The brothers last two singles received airplay on both national and local BBC radio stations including live sessions. Both tracks have charted well with The Pipe Brothers Project’s most recent single “Sonic Journey” topping several charts on Amazon including taking over the #1 spot from none other than Sir Paul McCartney on the Hot New Releases chart.

The duo recruited some formidable talent to work on their latest release. Featured on the new single “Heart & Soul” are legendary 10cc & Camel drummer Paul Burgess who worked with the brothers on their last single, along with longtime Jethro Tull & Gary Moore bass player Jonathan Noyce, who has also worked with such luminaries as Rick Wakeman & Take That.

With “Heart & Soul” The Pipe Brothers continue to push their creative boundaries. This time around the duo has delivered a further incredible instrumental composition with a majestic melody that conjures up images of Prog Rock great Steve Hackett.

The song ebbs and flows throughout its 4 minute and 20 minute duration from emotive both acoustic and electric guitar elements from Andrew, through to the sweeping, dramatic and occasionally classical keyboard licks from Jamie Pipe. Much like “Sonic Journey”, with the Pipe Brothers latest offering there are many distinct layers and textures which perfectly complement one another during the course of the number.

Once again this gifted duo has conjured up another exquisite and thoroughly enjoyable musical landscape. With now three singles behind them, let’s hope a full Pipe Brothers Project studio album is just around the corner.

The Pipe Brothers Project new download-only single “Heart & Soul” is available to download now via ITunes, Amazon, Google Play & CD Baby.
