Having the buzz closely related to a volcano ready to erupt, Band of Skulls and Deap Vally being Skull-deep in Badassery made their Detroit début at Saint Andrews Hall.
Deap Vally; Call them the Thelma and Louise of the Black Keys, with Janis on Vocals. Hailing from Los Angeles, Deap Vally opened the show with more balls than the bearings on a Ferrari. Having been on my radar since their 2012 début single Gonna Make My Own Money, this was a real treat to watch. The guns-blazing set opened with a personal favorite, Baby I Call Hell, and included choice cuts from their début LP Sistrionix. Attendees will surely have the name Deap Vally imprinted in their Skulls.

As for the other Skulls, the Band of Skulls hail from Southampton, England, and is quickly taking over the U.S rock scene. The band offers up a badass brand of blues, garage, and alternative rock, which fits extremely well with the Detroit music scene, as I’m sure old and new fans would agree. The power trio played old favorites to new crowd, as well as fresh jams from their 2014 release, Himalayan. Fans left the show with faces melted. And speaking on behalf of Detroit, we cannot wait for their return.
