Lettuce delivers a night of HOT Funk to a pack house at St. Andrews on a cold Thursday in Detroit Michigan.
On Thursday January 10, 2019 Lettuce made a stop in Detroit while on their 2109 Winter Vibe Up Tour. The band didn’t waste any time when they hit the stage and started the show with a heavy dose of FUNK with their hit song “Mt. Crushmore.” To say they crushed it with musical prowess would be an understatement, more along the lines of total and complete obliteration. Rounding off the soulful and funky bass lines, melodic guitar riffs, and solid back beats were a solid horn section made up of a trumpet player wearing an appropriate “Miles” t-shit, a sax player with monster chops, and a super smooth organ/keys player.
With influences such as Tower of Power and P-Funk, the band brought a packed set of tunes that fused hip-hop, soul, and funk. Tracks such as “Bowler”, “Rule the World,” “Silence is Golden,” and “Force” brought everyone in attendance off their feet with their hands raised high in the air. The band’s musical expertise with melody and overall song direction paved the path for a surreal journey into well written instrumentals that at times made you feel there was an actual vocalist singing.
Over the past 20 years, Lettuce has cultivated both a strong fan base and a knack for writing songs that will be on everyone’s list of go-to tunes for years to come. Sold out shows have become normal for the band so purchasing tickets in advance is definitely suggested. On behalf of everyone at the show and the entire Motor City, we thank you and look forward to the mothership of Lettuce returning to our city.
